How does the SDS Approval function work?

Approval lets an organization formally sign off on which chemicals are authorized for use, rather than treating "in the library" as the same thing as "approved":

1 Turn it on

An admin enables the approval feature from Settings.

2 Approve (or don't) from the SDS detail page

Set an approval status directly on the SDS, with an optional comment explaining the decision. Withdraw approval later if circumstances change.

3 Filter and manage at scale

On "All Our SDS," filter by Approved / Need approval, and use the Bulk action feature to set approval status across many SDSs in one operation.

4 Multi-level approval

For organizations that need more than one sign-off, forward a request to the "Next Approver" to continue the chain.

Only users with the "Admin with approval" role can actually approve SDSs and risk assessments — a regular Admin who tries gets a notification that they're not authorized to do it.
