How do I request updated SDS documents directly from our suppliers?

Yes — rather than waiting for a supplier to reissue an SDS on its own schedule, SDS Manager can send them a request directly, and points out that suppliers are legally required to provide an updated SDS on request. This lives under Updates, in its own four-page flow:

1 Add supplier email addresses (Vendor Contacts)

Updates → Vendor Contacts lists every supplier tied to your SDSs, sorted by how many active SDSs they supply. Requests can only go out once a supplier has an email on file, so fill in the Vendor Email column for each one you want to contact 1 — you can also record a "Vendor URL for SDS" and mark a supplier "Ignore" if you'd rather exclude them.

2 Choose who to request from (Request Updated SDS)

Updates → Request Updated SDS lists every supplier with an email on file, alongside how many of their SDSs are eligible for a request — eligibility is based on a Revision Date Threshold (defaults to SDS revision date ≤ current year − 3, adjustable). Open a supplier's row to see exactly which SDSs are included and pick which ones to request, then send — SDS Manager drafts the email itself, in the vendor's own language, listing the specific products and reminding them of their legal obligation to provide current SDSs to customers.

3 Track what you've sent (Sent Requests)

Updates → Sent Requests keeps a running history per supplier of what was requested and when. If a supplier needs to be asked again later — for example, they never replied — you can move a request back onto the Request Updated SDS list to send it a second time.

4 Read what comes back (Inbox from vendors)

Updates → Inbox (from vendors) collects supplier replies: what you asked for, any updated SDS files they attached, and the full text of their message, so you don't have to go hunting through your own email.
