Custom fields let you track anything the SDS itself doesn't cover — an internal NFPA rating, a review date, an internal reference code — right alongside the extracted data:
- Open the Personalized view tab in Manage SDS Library, then click the "+" to add a column
- Choose "Create custom fields," then set a name 1 and a type 2
- Four types are supported: Text, Numeric, Date, and Enumerated (a dropdown list of values you define)

- 1 Field name — whatever you want to call it, e.g. "NFPA rating"
- 2 Field type — Text, Numeric, Date, or Enumerated (a defined dropdown list)
Once created, the field appears on every SDS's detail page and, if you choose to show it, as a filterable column on "All our SDS" — you can even set it in bulk across several selected SDSs at once with the Bulk action feature.
A common use for a Date-type custom field is tracking expiry — see setting an expiration date on an SDS for that exact walkthrough.
