What is “Mixture State” and why do I need to select it?

Once you've added your ingredient(s), ExactSDS asks you to select a Mixture State before it will generate the ingredient's final hazard code — it's a required step, not optional, since the physical form of your product changes which GHS hazard statements apply.

There are 10 states to choose from: Solid, Liquid, Gas, Aerosol, Paste, Powder, Granules, Gel, Emulsion, and Solution. Pick whichever matches your actual product — for example, a cleaning solvent would usually be Liquid, while a cosmetic cream would be Paste or Gel.
