Right at the top of Section 1 (Product Details), ExactSDS makes you pick a Product Type: Hazardous Product or Non-Hazardous Product. It's a required radio choice — you can't move past Section 1 without picking one — and it changes several things later in the SDS, not just a label.

If you pick Hazardous, Section 3 (Ingredient Details) gives you both Add Chemical and Select Preset, the ingredient table includes a Hazard Code column, and once your ingredients are in you're asked to choose a Mixture State before the final hazard classification runs. The Section 3 button reads Generate Final Hazard.
If you pick Non-Hazardous, Section 3 only offers Add Chemical — no Select Preset, no Hazard Code column, and no Mixture State step anywhere in the flow. You still have to fill in the same three required fields per ingredient (CAS Number or Chemical Name, Actual Percentage, and SDS Displayed Percentage), but there's no hazard classification step at all, and the button simply reads Save & Continue. One consequence: substances added without a CAS number can only be pulled in via Select Preset, so they can't be used on a Non-Hazardous product at all — switch to Hazardous first if you need one.

Why it matters: Non-Hazardous skips hazard classification entirely, so only choose it if you're confident none of your ingredients are hazard-classified. If there's any doubt, pick Hazardous — that's the path that actually runs GHS classification on your mixture.
