What are the steps to create an SDS from start to finish?

There are two ways to create an SDS — on your own with the manual form, or with the AI assistant. Here's the full path for each.

1. Either way, start by adding your company details under your avatar → Company — this appears automatically in Section 1 of every SDS you create.

2. From your Dashboard, click “Create New SDS” for the manual form, or “Create with AI” for a guided chat 2. Both paths walk you through the same four stages: Product Details, Ingredient Details, Physical Properties, and Transport Information.

If you choose the manual form:

1. Fill in the basics first — product name, country, language, and the regulation standard that applies (e.g. OSHA/WHMIS for the US/Canada).

Section 1: Product Details — the 16 GHS sections are listed in the sidebar, grouped under the same four stages

2. Work through the 16 GHS sections yourself in the sidebar, one at a time — they stay grouped under those same four stages, so you always know where you are.

3. Add your ingredients as a single substance or a mixture under Ingredient Details, and use the built-in suggestions in each section to speed things up.

If you choose Create with AI: tell the assistant your product name, then answer its questions in that same order — Product Details, Ingredient Details, Physical Properties, and Transport Information. Answer one at a time or several at once (for example, “Acetone, hazardous, sold in Germany, in German”) — it typically drafts the full SDS in under 5 minutes, and flags anything it's unsure about for you to confirm.

3. Review your draft, then choose “Save” to keep editing later, or “Confirm & Publish” to lock in your official version.

4. Find it anytime in Library, where it's ready to download, share, translate, or version.

Tip: Sections 1, 3, 9, and 14 currently have a short video card built right into the form -- look for the play button at the top of those sections, or watch them here:
