What is PPE Suggestions Review, and how is it different from a Risk Evaluation?

The PPE Approval page is a separate, automatic feature: it analyzes the hazard statements, precautionary codes, and text patterns in your SDSs and suggests PPE icons, which an admin then reviews and approves. Approved icons show up to everyone on the SDS detail page as a quick visual reference.

This is not a substitute for a Risk Evaluation. The product says so directly on that page: these suggestions are derived automatically from text analysis, which isn't infallible — SDS documents vary in format and completeness, so suggestions can be missing, wrong, or not applicable to your specific work. A qualified person (an occupational health & safety professional, or the supplier) still needs to verify the right PPE and controls for each substance, and approving a suggestion here does not replace a formal Risk Evaluation.

Think of it as two layers: PPE Suggestions Review gives everyone a fast, auto-detected reference badge on the SDS itself; the Risk Evaluation tool is where a person actually assesses usage, rates each hazard, and records the PPE/controls that get used in job procedures and on labels.

For the actual step-by-step mechanics of reviewing and approving what it suggests, see how do I review and approve the PPE suggestions on my SDSs? below.

Requires Premium or higher — see the plan comparison; not available on Free or Basic. Wording paraphrased from the live PPE Approval page's own disclaimer, confirmed August 20, 2026.
