What do the different Risk Evaluation and COSHH Assessment statuses mean?

Both the Risk evaluation and COSHH assessments lists use the same five statuses, filterable from the "All Statuses" dropdown on each list (it defaults to showing Draft + Approved, or Draft + Approved + Revision draft for COSHH):

  • Draft Created but not yet approved — hazard ratings may still be blank.
  • Revision draft An approved document that's being edited again — the approved version stays in force until the revision itself is approved.
  • Approved Signed off and in effect — this is the version that feeds job procedures, labels, and QR-code instructions.
  • Replaced by newer version Superseded, typically after the underlying SDS itself was updated to a newer revision.
  • Archived Moved out of the active list

Statuses confirmed directly from the live filter dropdown on both list pages, August 20, 2026.
